Have you ever felt like something’s missing? Like there’s this big ol’ hole inside of you, and you’re just sure there’s some magical fix to fill it up? Trust me, I’ve been right there with you. I took myself on this wild, glittery rollercoaster through the New Age movement, thinking I was unlocking the secrets of the universe. I mean, who doesn’t want to be a spiritual powerhouse, a lightworker out here healing the world, right? It all sounded so good—until it didn’t.
Let me keep it real with you about what New Age really is, how it deceives you, and how it opens doors that you really don’t want to mess with. Buckle up, friend, because we’re about to go deep into something that might just change the way you look at all of this.
How I Got Hooked on the New Age Dream
The New Age movement often draws in those who are yearning for healing, peace, and a sense of control—especially folks like me who’ve carried some heavy baggage from family or relationship drama. Trust me, I know the struggle. After years of feeling rejected, unloved, and lost, the promises of the New Age spoke directly to my deepest desires. It wasn’t just about self-empowerment; it felt like a lifeline, an escape from the pain and chaos I couldn’t seem to shake off.
Friend, let me tell you something: the enemy knows exactly how to wrap up deception in a shiny little bow and present it like a gift. For me, it all started so small—almost innocent, like meditating to "clear my mind," saying affirmations to boost my confidence, and trying out the Law of Attraction to “manifest” a better life. These little practices gave me a false sense of control in a world that felt like it was falling apart around me. In a time when I was desperate for healing, they offered something solid to cling to— a fake light that I thought was my ticket to freedom.
But here’s the thing: what seems harmless at first can open the door to some really dark stuff. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was unknowingly inviting deception right into my life. What began with meditation and affirmations soon escalated into me consulting psychics, making moon rituals my new hobby, and diving headfirst into astrology. It all felt so empowering—like I was finally in control of my destiny. But every step I took deeper into these practices, the farther I drifted from God.
Now, let me tell you about the first time I called a psychic. I was shook! They seemed to know everything about me, and I couldn’t stop myself from going back for more. What started as just a quick curiosity quickly turned into an obsession. I found myself constantly seeking validation, calling psychics left and right, even doing tarot readings for myself. The enemy used my pain and my desperate need for answers to pull me into a world of false hope.

Before long, I was identifying myself as a "lightworker," convinced I had spiritual gifts to help others. The enemy played on my insecurities, whispering in my ear that I was chosen for something bigger, something divine. And let me tell you, that felt irresistible. I was reading astrology charts, performing rituals, even teaching others how to tap into their “divine energy.” I turned my New Age practices into a whole business, earning six figures and building a huge online following. On the outside, I looked like a success story. But deep down? I was lost.
Looking back, I see how crafty the enemy was. He didn’t just pull me into these practices—he made me believe I was doing something good, something meaningful. The New Age promised healing, but all it did was dig me deeper into my wounds. It promised empowerment, but left me feeling more broken than I ever was. What I thought was light was nothing but a cleverly disguised trap, pulling me further and further from the true healing and freedom only God can give.
What Is New Age Really About?
If you’ve ever wondered, "What is New Age anyway?" let me break it down for you. New Age is like a spiritual buffet—you’ve got a little bit of Eastern religion, some mysticism, a pinch of paganism, and a whole lot of self-help. It’s all wrapped up in a sparkly package that promises enlightenment, empowerment, and healing. On the surface, it seems like the ultimate answer to all your problems, offering a path to happiness and fulfillment. The teachings mix ancient philosophies with modern ideas, making it appear like a comprehensive system for personal growth and self-actualization.
But here’s the truth: New Age is all about glorifying the self. It’s built on the idea that you’re your own god, that you can manifest your desires, and that you’re in control of your destiny. While these ideas may sound empowering at first glance, they’re actually rooted in one of the oldest and most deceptive lies in the book. In fact, it takes us all the way back to the Garden of Eden. When the serpent tempted Eve, he told her she could be like God (Genesis 3:5). That’s the same lie the New Age movement continues to spread—that you don’t need God because you can be your own god.
Isaiah 45:5 makes it clear:
“I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God.”
When you start leaning into New Age practices, you’re not just exploring different spiritual ideas—you’re rejecting the sovereignty of God. You’re stepping into dangerous territory, and most people don’t even realize it until it’s too late. It’s a slippery slope, where the search for inner peace and personal power often leads people further away from the true source of wisdom and strength.

The Deception of Being a “Lightworker”
Let’s talk about this whole “lightworker” thing. New Age teachings often tell you that you’re a special, chosen person here to spread light and healing to the world. It makes you feel like you’re on some divine mission, and who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? The idea is that you have a unique purpose, to elevate the world through your energy and actions, and it creates a sense of significance that’s hard to resist. I bought into it too, for a time. I truly thought I was doing good, helping people, and living my best life, making a difference in the world around me.
But let me tell you something: the “light” in lightworker isn’t the light of Christ. It’s counterfeit light, carefully crafted to appear as though it’s the answer to all your spiritual needs, but it’s ultimately designed to lead you away from the true source of light—Jesus. In John 8:12, Jesus says,
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The only real, pure light comes from following Jesus, not from tapping into some vague universal energy or from a misguided sense of purpose that’s detached from Him.
Another thing about this lightworker mentality? It makes you hyper-focused on yourself. You start cutting people off because their “energy doesn’t align” with yours, and suddenly, your whole life becomes centered around protecting your own “vibes” rather than building meaningful relationships or showing love to others. You become more concerned about your own peace than the well-being of those around you. But Jesus said in Matthew 22:39,
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
That doesn’t mean only when their energy is good or when it feels convenient for you. It means always—through the good, the bad, and everything in between. The true calling is to love others, not to separate yourself from them based on something as superficial as “energy.”
Seeking Forbidden Knowledge
Do you remember the story of Eve in the Garden of Eden? God told her not to eat from the tree of knowledge, but here comes Satan, smooth-talking her into thinking it was no big deal. He told her she’d gain wisdom and be like God (Genesis 3:1-6). Sound familiar?

That’s exactly what the New Age does. It tempts you with forbidden knowledge— stuff like astrology, divination, and channeling spirits— that God clearly tells us to stay away from. These practices might look shiny and promising, offering insight and understanding about things that seem beyond our comprehension, but trust me, they’re nothing more than subtle traps that lead us away from God's truth.
Now, Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says,
“Let no one be found among you who... practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells… Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.”
Friend, God’s not playing with us here. This is a straight-up warning to protect us from spiritual deception. There’s a reason He tells us to steer clear of that mess. Some knowledge just ain’t meant for us!
It’s like playing with fire— you might think you’re handling it, but before you know it, you’re burned. The allure of this "hidden wisdom" can be strong, but stepping outside the boundaries God set for us only leads to dangerous consequences.
The Rabbit Hole of Never-Ending Healing
If you’ve ever dipped your toes into the New Age world, you know just how addictive it can be. It starts all innocent and cute—a single ritual to “clear your energy” or an affirmation to “manifest your desires.” Then, before you even know what hit you, it grows. One ritual leads to another, and another, and suddenly you’re deep in a never-ending cycle of “healing,” “cleansing,” and “aligning.” And yet, despite all your efforts, you still don’t feel healed. You might get a momentary sense of relief, a fleeting burst of clarity, but the deep peace you’re actually craving? That’s nowhere in sight.

And here’s the kicker: it’s not designed to heal you. It’s designed to keep you searching. The entire New Age system thrives off keeping you stuck in this loop. Each ritual feels like it’s bringing you closer to enlightenment, but in reality? It’s just pulling you further into darkness. The more you seek healing through these practices, the more tangled you get in their web. It’s a trap, a well-crafted deception, feeding off your desire to be whole while making sure you never actually get there.
Every time you perform one of these rituals, you’re actually empowering the kingdom of darkness. These practices? They are not harmless. They’re spiritual transactions that give access to forces working against you.
The enemy is slick, making these rituals look positive, even beneficial, but trust—his ultimate goal is to keep you stuck in the cycle. Each step deeper into this world is a step further from true healing—the kind that only comes through Christ.
Ephesians 6:12 tells us:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness.”
The struggle? It’s spiritual. And the enemy? He’s using the illusion of healing to bait you. He knows exactly where you’re hurting, and he’s gonna use that to keep you in bondage.
The sad part is how easy it is to fall into this trap. I remember chasing after every new method that promised healing; crystals, energy readings, sound baths ... you name it. But it was never enough.
There was always another block to clear, another wound to heal. I thought I was evolving, growing, becoming more aligned with my higher self. But in truth? I was just running in circles, pouring my energy into practices that left me feeling emptier than ever.
The deeper I went, the more I realized that this wasn’t just about healing—it was a treadmill of spiritual oppression. These rituals didn’t bring freedom. No, they brought a quiet kind of bondage, a reliance on things that could never truly satisfy. Instead of breaking free, I was just digging myself into a deeper hole, one “healing session” at a time.

If you’ve been caught in this same cycle, know you’re not alone. The enemy’s job is to keep you searching, to wear you down with frustration and doubt. But here’s the good news: there’s a way out. True healing doesn’t come from rituals or alignments—it comes from Jesus, friend. His healing is whole and complete, not dependent on endless practices or ceremonies. In Him, the cycle ends, and real peace begins.
Spirit Guides, Archangels, and “Your Higher Self”
Alright, let’s talk about these so-called “guides” people love to connect with in the New Age. You know, whether it’s spirit guides, archangels, or your so-called “higher self,” let me tell you something—these entities are not what they claim to be. They try to present themselves as these wise, compassionate beings, all eager to help you with life’s problems or unlock some hidden potential you didn’t even know you had. They’ll come off all comforting and divine, but the truth is, their real nature is FAR from what they’re trying to sell you.
These “guides” are nothing but familiar spirits—basically, demons dressed up like helpful entities. They know exactly how to fake it, mimicking the goodness and light that’ll make you trust them. At first, their presence feels profound, even transformative, like they’re whispering all these messages of love, power, or enlightenment. But don’t be fooled, friend, their true intentions are about as far from pure as you can get.
2 Corinthians 11:15 straight-up warns us about this deception:
“It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness."
See, just like Satan himself loves to show up looking like an angel of light, these spirits do the same thing. They play on your vulnerabilities—your wounds, your confusion, your longing for answers. They see your pain, and they exploit it, offering you false wisdom that sounds good in the moment, but ultimately pulls you further into darkness.

One of their slickest moves? Making you feel special, like you’re chosen, or uniquely connected to some higher purpose. That flattery hits, especially when you’re out here searching for meaning or trying to heal from pain. They know exactly how to appeal to your need for guidance, and they wrap their lies in language that feels so personal, like they’re speaking directly to your heart.
Now, trust me, I remember how captivating these interactions could be. When I first connected with my so-called “spirit guide,” I felt like I was on top of the world. Like, I was tapping into some ancient, divine wisdom that was made just for me. The messages felt tailored, comforting, like they had all the answers when I was feeling lost. It was so easy to believe that they had my best interest at heart. But as time went on, their “guidance” started to get more consuming, leading me into practices and beliefs that took me further and further away from the truth in God’s Word.
These entities don’t just want your attention—they want your allegiance. Every time you lean on their “guidance,” you’re pulling yourself further away from God’s voice. They want to create this fake spirituality that feels enlightening, but it’s hollow at its core. And make no mistake—these spirits are on a mission: to distract you from God’s truth and wrap you up in a web of deception that’s so sticky, you’ll feel like you can’t get out.

The more you trust these spirits, the harder it gets to hear God’s voice. They thrive on confusion, creating a dependency on them that makes it feel impossible to break free. But listen to me—freedom is possible! When you turn to Christ, He’ll expose their lies and break their hold over your life. Only Jesus can silence these counterfeit voices and bring you back into the light of His love.
Here’s the truth: You don’t need these “guides” to feel special or to find your purpose. Friend, God’s already chosen you, already loved you, and already called you into His family. His guidance? Always trustworthy. His wisdom? Never changing. Unlike these false spirits, God doesn’t manipulate or deceive. He offers you peace, clarity, and true freedom. So why settle for counterfeit when you can have the real thing?
Open Doors and Generational Consequences
Okay, now, let’s talk about something that’s real important when it comes to these New Age practices: you’re not just affecting your own life when you get into this stuff. Every ritual, reading, or affirmation you do is a spiritual transaction, and trust me, those doors you open don’t just stay open for you. They can ripple through your family, your finances, your health, and even into generations yet to come. What might seem like an innocent little “self-healing” or “empowerment” moment can actually have spiritual consequences that last way longer than you realize.

I didn’t know this when I was caught up in the New Age myself. I was just trying to find answers, escape my pain, and build a life I thought I deserved. But every time I took a step deeper into those practices—calling up psychics, lighting candles for rituals, or even building altars—I was unknowingly opening doors. And, honey, those doors weren’t just there to let in some good vibes. The enemy was walking right through them, and I didn’t even see it. I thought I had control, but friend, I was handing over the keys to my life and my family’s future without even realizing it.
Exodus 20:5 gives us a good, honest reminder of this truth:
“For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”
Now, don’t get scared reading that. It’s not about fear; it’s about understanding the weight of the choices we make. What we decide today, especially when it comes to spiritual things, doesn’t just affect us. It can affect our kids, our grandkids, and even future generations. Those choices have ripples, and we can’t always see where they land.
I saw this truth hit home in my own life. My father struggled with addiction, and as painful as that was, it wasn’t just his struggle. It fractured our whole family, leaving scars that shaped how I viewed relationships, trust, and even my own self-worth. It left a hole in me that the enemy was more than happy to fill, leading me to search for comfort in those New Age practices. But as I dove deeper, I wasn’t just hurting myself—I was passing those same struggles down to my daughter.

The spirit of rejection, the need for constant validation, and that pull toward fake solutions—those were seeds the enemy planted in me, and I realized they could easily take root in her too. That broke my heart. As parents, we want to protect our babies, right? But when we step out of God’s will, we’re not just putting ourselves at risk—we’re leaving the ones we love the most exposed too.
But, listen, it’s not just about family. The consequences of engaging in New Age practices can hit every area of your life. I’ll admit, I saw some financial success when I was in the New Age world. But you know what? That success always felt shallow. No matter how much money I was making, it never brought me peace or stability. In fact, the more money I made, the more I felt like I was drowning in pressure, trying to hold onto it like I was manifesting some kind of blessing—but it was all just a trap set by the enemy.
Even my health wasn’t safe from it. I was constantly battling fatigue, anxiety, and this heavy feeling that I couldn’t shake. At the time, I thought it was just part of the grind, or maybe even the “spiritual awakening” process. But now, looking back, I see how all those open doors in my life gave the enemy room to operate—spiritually, emotionally, and even physically.
What’s wild is how fast things can snowball. It starts with one small compromise—a meditation, a tarot reading, a ritual—and before you know it, you’re knee-deep in a mess you can’t get out of. The enemy isn’t just looking for a foot in the door—he wants full access. And once he gets it, friend, it’s like the floodgates open, and the consequences spill over into every area of your life—your family, your relationships, your future.
But let me tell you, understanding the generational impact of these choices was one of the humbling lessons God taught me when I finally walked away from the New Age. Breaking free wasn’t just about me; it was about reclaiming my family’s spiritual inheritance and closing those doors I had left wide open. Through repentance and God’s grace, I’ve seen Him start to restore what was broken, not just in my life, but in my daughter’s too.
Now, if you’re reading this and feeling the weight of generational consequences, don’t be discouraged. God’s grace is bigger than any mistake we’ve made. When we turn to Him, confess our sins, and ask for His forgiveness, He’s faithful to forgive us and break the chains that have been holding our families down for generations. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). You don’t have to stay stuck in that cycle. Through Christ, you can be the one to break it.
New Age Is Witchcraft
Ok so I am not going to beat around the bush — New Age is straight-up witchcraft. I know, it sounds all mystical and deep with its talk about spirituality, enlightenment, and self-empowerment, but at the end of the day, it’s the same rebellious spirit against God that’s been around since the beginning. Whether you're dealing with energy healing, manifesting, divination, or those rituals that promise to tap into some “universal force,” they all stem from the same place: rebellion against God’s truth.

Now, let’s clear something up right here — there’s no such thing as “white magic” or “good witchcraft.” No matter how harmless it might look, how helpful it might feel, it’s all the same thing. Witchcraft is witchcraft, and it operates in direct opposition to God’s will for your life. These practices might promise you healing, wisdom, or prosperity, but trust me, the real agenda is to pull you away from God and into spiritual bondage.
Galatians 5:19-21 says it all:
“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Now, let’s break it down. Witchcraft isn’t just about casting spells or doing rituals. It’s any attempt to mess with spiritual forces outside of God’s control. And yes, that includes things that seem innocent enough, like using crystals to “heal,” checking your horoscope to “guide” your day, or meditating to “connect with the universe.” They all sound harmless, right? But they’re all rooted in the same lie: the belief that you can tap into supernatural power without God’s permission. That’s the trap.
At its core, witchcraft is rebellion. It’s choosing to trust in created things; like crystals or astrology — instead of trusting the Creator Himself. The enemy’s good at making it look all shiny and appealing, like you're tapping into some ancient wisdom or reclaiming something powerful. But friend, the Bible doesn’t sugarcoat it. These practices are dangerous, spiritually and eternally.
What makes witchcraft so tricky is that it doesn’t always look evil at first. It doesn’t come with a big ol’ “I’m here to deceive you!” sign. It often presents itself as a way to heal, find purpose, or feel empowered. And that’s the sneaky part. Before you know it, you’re tangled up in a web of deception and don’t even realize it until it’s already pulling you down.
But here’s the good news: There is hope. I don’t care how far you’ve gone or how deep you’ve gotten into these practices. Jesus offers a way out. When you turn to Him, renounce all that junk, and ask for His forgiveness, He will break those spiritual chains and restore your relationship with God. His power is greater than anything you’ve encountered in the New Age world. Unlike the empty promises of witchcraft, His love brings real freedom, real peace, and a lasting joy you can’t find anywhere else.
Breaking Free
So, how do you break free? It starts with repentance—a turning back to God, acknowledging the wrong, and seeking His forgiveness. When we engage in New Age practices, we invite spiritual forces into our lives that have no place in the Kingdom of God. Repentance is the first step in closing those doors and breaking free from the deception. You must ask God to forgive you for the ways you’ve turned away from His truth and opened doors to these harmful practices.

Repentance involves more than just words; it’s a heart change and a decision to walk away from these things for good. As part of that repentance, it’s essential to take action. Get rid of everything tied to the New Age—crystals, tarot cards, sage, books, symbols, or anything else that you’ve used or collected in pursuit of spiritual power or self-empowerment. These objects can carry spiritual significance, and holding onto them can be a stumbling block in your healing and deliverance. Destroy them if necessary. By doing so, you are physically demonstrating your commitment to renounce these practices and leave them behind.
You might feel a strong pull to hold onto some of these items, especially if they were significant to you at one point, but remember that those items are not the source of your healing or power. Only God is. Trust that He will meet you in your obedience and cleanse you from every influence these objects may have had on your life.
I know first hand how difficult it can be to let go. I had a six-figure business and everything that the world would consider "success." Yet, I walked away from it all when I realized the depths to which the New Age had entangled me. I had built my identity and sense of control through these practices, and it was hard to let go of the financial security and prestige that came with it. But I came to a moment where I had to choose: the fleeting comforts of this world or the eternal truth and freedom found in Christ. I chose Christ, knowing that He would never fail me, even when everything else fell away.
Prayer Of Repentance From New Age
Here’s a prayer to get you started on your journey of freedom, especially if you want to dedicate or rededicate your life to Christ:
Heavenly Father,
I come to You in the name of Jesus. I confess that I am a sinner in need of Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again, and I accept Him as my Lord and Savior. Please forgive me for engaging in New Age practices and for turning away from Your truth. I ask You to cleanse me from all unrighteousness, as Your Word promises in 1 John 1:9. I invite You to be the Lord of my life, and I commit to following You from this day forward.
I ask You to close every spiritual door I’ve opened through these practices. Break every chain of bondage in my life, and protect me and my family from any lingering effects. I renounce every spirit I’ve invited into my life, and I command them to leave in Jesus’ name. Thank You, Lord, for Your mercy and grace.
Amen.
This prayer is just a starting point. As you pray, be open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and listen for any areas where you may need to go deeper in repentance or renounce other specific practices. Keep in mind that breaking free from New Age practices may be a process, and you may need to continually remind yourself of your decision to turn away from these things.
It’s important to surround yourself with God’s truth, reading the Bible, praying, and seeking fellowship with other believers who can support you in your journey of restoration. As you do, the lies and deception of the New Age will be replaced with the truth of who you are in Christ.
God’s Word is clear—when we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us. No matter how deep you’ve gone, no matter how long you’ve been involved in New Age practices, there is nothing too big for God to handle. His love and grace are greater than any spiritual influence you've encountered.
Take that step today. Repent, renounce, and receive the freedom that Jesus offers.
