Hey friend! Below is a powerful Prayer For Seeking God's Kingdom First. It is what the Bible encourages us to do in Matthew 6:33. When you’re feeling stressed or pulled in different directions, say this prayer. It’s best said in moments when you need to refocus, when you’re looking for guidance, or when you simply want to remind yourself that God’s Kingdom is your top priority. Let this prayer ground you and draw you closer to His will for your life.
First, when we come before God in prayer, we need to intentionally seek His presence. Before you pray, take a few moments to prepare yourself. Here are two things to help create an environment that allows you to connect deeply with God:
Find a Quiet Place: Choose a spot where you won’t be interrupted—whether it’s a room, a cozy corner, sitting in your car, or even outdoors. Creating a peaceful setting allows you to focus entirely on God and eliminate distractions.
Worship Before You Pray: Begin with worship to welcome God’s presence and prepare your heart to receive from Him. You can use our suggested playlist or choose songs that center your heart on God’s greatness.
A Prayer For Seeking God's Kingdom First
Now, let’s enter into prayer with hearts full of worship and expectancy. God is waiting to hear from you, and He’s ready to move in your life as you seek His Kingdom first.
Let’s pray…
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today in worship, acknowledging that You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. There is none like you, and I lift your name high above all. You are my Savior, my Redeemer, and my King. I praise you because you are worthy of all worship, and I humbly bow before you, giving you all the honor and glory.
Your Word says, “The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.” (Psalm 97:1). I rejoice in your reign, Father, and I acknowledge your authority over all creation. You are sovereign, and I surrender my life to you, knowing that everything is under your control.
I ask that Your Kingdom come and that Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Your Word says, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10). I make this my prayer, Lord. Let Your Kingdom come in my life today. Let Your will be done in every area of my life, as it is perfectly done in heaven.
Confession: Father, I come to You with a humble heart, acknowledging that I have often sought after the things of this world instead of prioritizing Your Kingdom. I confess that I have allowed distractions, worries, and desires to take my focus off You.
Your Word says, “But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33). Forgive me, Lord, for putting my own desires above Your will. I repent for seeking after worldly things and ask for Your grace to seek You first in all things. Renew my heart and mind so that I may live in alignment with Your Word.
Remind: Lord, remind me of Your promises. Your Word says, “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17). I thank You, Father, that Your Kingdom is within me, and that it brings peace, righteousness, and joy. Help me to remember that, as I seek Your Kingdom first, You will provide all that I need. I place my trust in Your Word, knowing that Your promises are true and that You will never leave me nor forsake me.
Your Word says, “No good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” (Psalm 84:11). I trust in Your goodness, Lord, knowing that You will not withhold any good thing from me as I seek Your Kingdom and live according to Your righteousness.
Intercession: Father, I lift up the world to You today, especially those who are lost and searching for the truth. Your Word says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (1 John 5:14). I ask, Lord, that You open the eyes of those who do not know You. I intercede for those in pain, for those who are sick, and for those who are struggling. Let Your Kingdom of healing, comfort, and peace come to them.
I pray for my family, my friends, and my community, asking for Your protection, peace, and guidance. Your Word says, “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18). I call on You today, Lord, asking for Your help and intervention in their lives.
Ask: Lord, I ask for more of You in my life. Your Word says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5). I ask for wisdom, understanding, and guidance. Help me to seek Your Kingdom first in everything I do, knowing that when I do, everything else will follow. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, that I may live according to Your will.
Father, I ask for Your Kingdom to manifest fully in my life today. Let Your peace reign in my heart, Your joy fill my spirit, and Your righteousness guide my steps. Provide for my needs, protect me from harm, and lead me in Your truth.
Your Word says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). I trust in Your plans for me, Father, and I know that as I seek You first, You will provide everything I need.
Your Word says, “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” (Psalm 23:1). I trust that you are my Shepherd, and with you, I lack nothing. I place my faith in you, trusting that you will meet all my needs according to your riches in glory.
I surrender all to you, Father, and trust that you will lead me in your perfect will. May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in my life, today and always.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
